DNA is the material in your body that contains all your genetic information. You can think of it as your body's blueprint.

DNA stands for deoxyribonucleic acid. It is found in (almost) every cell in your body, usually in the cell nucleus.

DNA contains small pieces of information called genes. Genes pass on information about characteristics such as eye or hair color. They can also reveal your predisposition to certain diseases.

You get your DNA from your parents: you inherit about half from your mother and half from your father. That's why family members often look alike.
