Ezetimibe

Ezetimibe is a cholesterol-lowering drug. It is also known as a cholesterol absorption inhibitor.

This medicine inhibits the absorption of cholesterol in the small intestine. As a result, your intestine passes less cholesterol on to the liver. This ultimately leads to less cholesterol in your blood.

Ezetimibe is often used alongside a statin if a statin alone is not effective enough. It is sometimes used if someone cannot tolerate statins.
