Statins

Statins are cholesterol-lowering medications. They are often prescribed if your cholesterol is too high or if you have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Statins lower the cholesterol in your blood because they inhibit the production of cholesterol in the liver. This mainly reduces LDL cholesterol ("bad" cholesterol).

Statins are effective and safe, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. They are also cheaper than many other cholesterol-lowering medications.
