We are very proud to announce that, effective July 1, 2026, Kees Hovingh will join the board of the LEEFH Foundation as a medical advisor.
He will serve on the board alongside Dennis Boor, and Kees will succeed ErikStroes. We extend our deepest gratitude to Erik for everything he has done for the LEEFH Foundation over the years. He will certainly remain involved.
Kees is an internist specializing in vascular medicine, and his research focuses on the development and treatment of atherosclerosis. Kees received his medical training in Groningen, completed his doctoral research in Amsterdam, and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School.
He is one of the founders of an international network of clinicians (HICC, Homozygous FH International Clinical Collaboration) treating patients with homozygous FH. At Amsterdam UMC, he served as head of the clinical trials office and acting head of the Department of Internal Medicine. He subsequently worked as Chief Scientific Advisor at Novo Nordisk in Denmark. He earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Amsterdam Business School.
Kees is a member of the Familial Hypercholesterolemia Studies Collaboration (FHSC) of the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS). He also works as an internist (specializing in diabetes) at Diabeter and serves as a medical advisor at De Hoop.
