Lp(a) Explainer with Shirin Ibrahim

Research physician Shirin Ibrahim of Amsterdam UMC (and currently OLVG) explains in a 6-minute video what Lp(a) is and what the consequences of elevated Lp(a) levels can be. Lp(a) is a lipid particle composed of an LDL particle with an apolipoprotein(a) tail. Elevated Lp(a) levels are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

"In 2005, I mainly saw patients for secondary prevention, i.e., after a stroke or TIA or with peripheral arterial disease."
