Isala is now also a LEEFH center

A hereditary condition characterized by high levels of "bad" cholesterol (Familial Hypercholesterolemia, or FH) is one of the most common genetic disorders in the Netherlands. If left untreated, it is associated with an increased risk of premature cardiovascular disease. Fortunately, effective treatments are available. Especially when treatment is started early, the long-term consequences are fortunately limited.

10 Years of the LEEFH Foundation

The LEEFH Foundation is celebrating its 10th anniversary. On Monday, October 9, we celebrated this milestone with 100 FH healthcare providers from 30 hospitals, patients, donors, and other stakeholders from across the Netherlands. Chaired by Erik Stroes (Medical Director of LEEFH, internist at Amsterdam UMC), the event focused on the past, present, and future of the detection and treatment of Familial Hypercholesterolemia.

Tergooi MC becomes LEEFH center 

Starting in September 2023, Tergooi MC will join LEEFH, the National Expertise Center for Genetic Research into Cardiovascular Diseases, as a LEEFH center. This means that Tergooi MC will play a greater role in coordinating family research among patients with familial hypercholesterolemia in the region.
